our campaign values and policy goals
Our Roadmap for District 3
I’m Amber Timberlake, and I believe that the best version of Grand Prairie is the one we build together. My home is here, my family is here, and I want to ensure that as our city grows, residents' voice remain the loudest one in the room. This roadmap isn’t just a list of policies; it’s a commitment to a transparent, accountable government that prioritizes our neighbors over outside interests. As a former HUD attorney, I know how to navigate the technicalities of city growth to ensure it actually serves the people who call this community home. Below are the three pillars of my campaign: real, actionable goals to protect and improve the Grand Prairie we love.

Loving Our Neighborhoods
Increasing Community Safety, Walkability, and Green Spaces:
-
We need to move beyond being a city we just drive through. I advocate for expanding our trail systems and ensuring that every new development includes shaded, walkable paths and functional green spaces where families can gather. Our parks shouldn't just be "pockets" of grass; they should be the connectors of our community.
-
Outside of traditional parks, I will work with community partners to develop community gardens where residents can access fresh, local produce right here in District 3. To support this, I want to implement community programs that teach small-scale farming and botanical gardening, empowering our residents with the skills to grow their own food and beautify our district.
-
I believe the strongest deterrent to crime is a connected neighborhood. I will work to revitalize our neighborhood watch programs and community gatherings, because when neighbors look out for one another, everyone is safer.
Loving Our Legacy
Comprehensive Senior Home Support, Protecting Financial Stability, and Preserving Our History:
-
Maintaining a home shouldn't be a burden as we age. I propose expanding Senior Home Repair grants and creating a "Senior Maintenance Liaison" program to help older residents navigate city services for yard work and minor repairs. Our goal is to provide the resources necessary for our seniors to live in safe, comfortable homes with dignity.
-
I am committed to ensuring our seniors can enjoy the fruits of their labor right here at home. I will be a fierce advocate for maintaining the Senior Property Tax Freeze and the Homestead Exemption to protect our long-time residents from being priced out by rising values.
-
By focusing on "Neighborhood Preservation," we can ensure that as we modernize, we don't lose the historic charm and established communities that define our city’s heart.
Loving Our Future
Strategic Economic Growth and Recruitment, Grand Prairie First Initiatives, and Bridging the Generational Gap
-
My goal is to proactively recruit the services our future needs, specifically focusing on eliminating food deserts by bringing grocery stores to underserved areas. We aren't just looking for any growth, we are looking for the right growth that adds value to our community. I will also advocate for High-Performance Design Standards that ensure every new development is built with premium materials and thoughtful architecture. By rejecting disposable development, we ensure that what we build today remains a neighborhood asset fifty years from now.
-
Our local economy is strongest when we support our own. I will push for procurement policies that prioritize Grand Prairie-based small businesses for city contracts. Beyond just "buying local," I want to establish a small business mentorship pipeline that helps our local entrepreneurs navigate the city's bidding and permitting processes. By removing the barriers that often favor large, outside corporations, we can ensure our tax dollars are reinvested directly into the storefronts and families that make District 3 unique.
-
I believe our youth and our seniors are our greatest untapped resources. I will champion city-sponsored "Legacy Mentorship" programs that connect Grand Prairie high schoolers with our seniors. Whether it's students helping seniors with technology or seniors sharing career and life wisdom with students, these connections foster mutual respect and a stronger social fabric for the years ahead.
